HRNA Roles and Responsibilities 

This document outlines roles and responsibilities of elected positions for the Historic Riverside Neighborhood Association (HRNA).  These roles and responsibilities are provided to as a guideline for perspective nominees for elected positions and may be changed by the HRNA board.

 

The purpose of HRNA is to

·         promote a community that fosters goodwill and support between neighbors

·         work with residents, property owners, and the city to enhance the appearance, safety and property values of the Riverside community

·         work with residents and property owners within the locally designated historic district, and the city to promote issues related to historic preservation.

·         represent the Riverside community in front of local and state governing bodies as well as to other individuals and organizations

 

The Board and its Board Members are responsible for

·         governance, leadership and stewardship of  the Association

·         managing the association, setting directions and making decisions to best represent HRNA members and the Riverside community

·         developing an annual budget and submitting it to the Association for approval

·         determining and publishing a list of work groups and committees with roles and responsibilities of those groups

·         serving as liaison between work groups and committees, and report activities to the Board at their monthly meetings

·         posting meeting minutes from all Board meetings.

 

The Board may take positions and take action on matters to publicly represent the Association on such matters. The Board must report positions and actions in a timely manner to the Association membership.

 

The President is responsible for

·         being the spokesperson and point of contact for all matters  related to government entities of the City, County, and State

·         communicating Board directions and decisions to officers, members and local government entities

·         coordinating and tracking activities of all work groups and committees

·         managing day-to-day activities of the Association

·         facilitating membership meetings

·         serving as a leader or a member of work groups and committees as deemed appropriate

 

The president shall be an authorized signature for the Association.

 

The Vice-President is responsible for

·         all duties of the president in the absence of the president

·         assisting the president in carrying out the duties of the president

·         planning the agenda for Association meetings

·         overseeing the planning and coordination of any association meeting or event

·         serving as a leader or a member of work groups and committees as deemed appropriate

 

The vice-president shall be an authorized signature for the Association.

 

The Secretary is responsible for

·         recording and posting the minutes of each Board meeting and Association meeting

·         overseeing and maintaining all organizational records

·         overseeing the newsletter and guaranteeing its production and delivery

·         overseeing the HRNA website and guaranteeing that is up to date.

 

 

The Treasurer is responsible for

·         overseeing the list of members and property owners, and making sure that these lists are up to date

·         maintaining all Association financial records including the Association checking account

·         reporting the financial status of the Association at each Board meeting

·         preparing a financial statement for presentation at the annual meeting.

 

The treasurer shall be the primary signature for Association checks.  Checks in excess of $500 shall require the written approval of two officers.
